A Golden's Globe:

Dog-Friendly Places Worth Exploring

About image
I was once told that my life shouldn't revolve around the life of my dog. That's the secret to having a happy life with your pup, right?  It does not control you... You control it.  But what if your dog's life was one full of adventure, loyalty, and love?  What if your life would look better if it was immersed into a world full of excitement, friendship, and discovery?  What if focusing more on the life of your dog could better improve your life? This realization is what inspired my wife and me to create this blog: A Golden's Globe...  For us, it's our Golden Retriever's world and we are joyously living in it one day at a time.
Let's back up. My name is Marcus Watson and I am happily married to my beautiful wife, Carly. When we became home owners we decided that getting a dog would help us take that next step in our lives as a growing family. We found a Golden Retriever breeder, picked out the puppy we wanted, and brought our new fur baby home, Gimli the Golden(yes, we named our dog after Gimli the warrior-dwarf from Lord of the Rings). But our new four-legged friend wasn't very friendly... like at all. He was extremely independent, would never listen, and spent the majority of his time biting my wife and me. On top of that, he had a 5-inch umbilical hernia, only one testicle, and a skin condition. What had we gotten ourselves into?
Our local vet referred us to a dog-trainer who completely turned our world upside-down (in a good way!). Through consistent work, patience, and a whole lot of love our demon dog turned into an obedient companion. My wife and I began to focus on Gimli's life and what made him happy. We soon figured out what brought the most joy to Gimli: spending time with his owners. We decided to include him in just about everything we could! From going to the store to weekend trips, Gimli began to travel everywhere with us. What we discovered was that the more places we went together, the more confident, loyal, and obedient he became. Our life now revolves around our beautiful Golden, and we are both better for it.
The purpose of this blog is to provide you with the best dog-friendly places in the Smoky Mountain region of the United States to explore with your dog. Spending quality time with your dog in public will only strengthen the bond you share, and it will provide you with a life full of adventures and memories. If you are struggling with your dog and are giving up hope, don't. Find a trustworthy trainer (message me for my recommendations!) who can help you get on the right foot. Just be consistent in your training and focus on spending time with your dog. Then check out these dog-friendly locations to go visit with your dog to even further the adventure! Remember, living in your dog's world will ultimately make your life more enjoyable.
Welcome to A Golden's Globe: It's our four-legged pal's world, we're just living in it!
